Wade, Colindale Counsellor

I am Wade Miller–Knight, your Counsellor for Colindale, London NW9, where I also live. Colindale is near Edgware, Harrow, Hendon, Mill Hill, Wembley, Kingsbury and Kenton. I am in my fifties.

My Counselling

People with all kinds of psychological / emotional concerns can gain from my counselling. I welcome clients of all ages from 16 up.

My aim

  • I listen to you and what you feel makes you unhappy;
  • We focus together on what you choose to bring and what about yourself you may be ready to start to change;
  • You feel understood, accepted and not judged. (I don't tell you "you should....");
  • I do not set your goals for you. You perhaps will sometimes set goals for yourself;

Many clients feel happier after counselling. They may for example experience an increase in confidence, self-acceptance, self-respect, self-esteem.

Anger, Anxiety, Asperger’s Syndrome…

You may feel "depression", "anxiety", "stress", "grief", "OCD", "Asperger’s Syndrome", "low self–esteem", "abuse", "difficulties in relationships", "want anger management", and so on. I work with each individual person for your change, growth, and self–acceptance to help you to cultivate and strengthen your psychological and emotional well–being, rather than by labelling a "problem" and then "solving" it. This way of counselling is called "person-centred" counselling.

Asperger's Syndrome

If you are a client with Asperger's syndrome, or preferences and difficulties that some people see as typical of Asperger's syndrome, I work with you to get what you value most for yourself from your special gifts, and to improve life skills with which you may have had more difficulty than others.

Black and Asian Clients

Many black people and British Asians have very successfully achieved with me what they came to counselling for. I have worked well with many clients with families in India and the subcontinent, the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.

Hindu Counselling

I am British and a Westerner rather than Hindu or Indian culturally. However, my counselling is 'Hindu counselling' in that I am guided by my Indian Guru, Yogananda, a Hindu counselling wisdom, love, and inner peace.

In myself I value loyalty, trustworthiness, reliability, peace, my word, compassion, love, empathy, non–judgmental acceptance of people — the Hindu counselling values found in the Bhagavad–Gita.

These values are for me Hindu counselling values. And they are also pagan counselling and Buddhist counselling values. I have worked beautifully in co-operation with every spirituality, faith, religion, spiritual path of my clients.

Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual

Of course I'm fully with you and positively for you if part of who you are is that you're gay, lesbian, or bisexual. And I also work well with clients who are unsure of their sexual orientation or of when and with whom to be 'out'.

Confidentiality

Normally, everything you bring to counselling (therapy or psychotherapy, as it's sometimes called) is totally confidential. The counselling room is sacred space, a safe place for you to be wholly you. There are a couple of exceptions. Legally, I have to report money laundering! And ethically, I can't keep it hushed if you're intending to seriously hurt either yourself or someone else. But even then I'd discuss our choices with you first if at all possible. "Within these sacred walls, no betrayer can lurk." (Mozart, The Magic Flute)

BACP Accreditation and Qualifications

I am a fully BACP accredited counsellor. (Accreditation is independent professional recognition of my good quality training and experience and my honest, honourable ethical practice.)

I have a Middlesex University counselling degree (Harrow College).

I am a member of:

  • BACP (the counsellors’ professional organisation, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)
  • The BAPCA (British Association for the Person-Centred Approach) branch for person-centred counsellors who are counselling in and around Colindale, Edgware, Harrow, Kenton, Kingsbury, Wembley, Mill Hill and Hendon.

Counselling is offered in Colindale, which is between Wembley, Kenton, Harrow, Hendon and Edgware in north-west London; or as telephone counselling.
